Hartman Grant Committee Distributes

Hartman Endowment Fund: This fund was created by the Foundation to serve the financial needs of Indiana Conference clergy who have incurred educational debt in preparation for the ordained Christian ministry.  The Committee reviews clergy applicants for financial need due to educational indebtedness; adheres to guidelines and procedures established by the Foundation for administering this fund, and, makes annual distribution of income to qualified applicants. Distributions of income to qualified recipients will be considered grants, not loans.

Van Fleit Ministerial Aid Fund:  This fund, established January 1964, was created by gifts from members of the Van Fleit family.  The income from these assets are to be used to make grants to newly ordained clergy serving the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church who have incurred considerable educational indebtedness in pursuing their education in preparation for the ordained Christian ministry.  Distributions of income to qualified recipients will be considered grants, not loans. 

HOW TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM THE HARTMAN GRANT COMMITTEE: 

At the time of ordination of new clergy members in the Indiana Conference, the North Indiana UM Foundation will notify each newly ordained clergy member of the existence of these Funds, the guidelines of the Funds, and their possible eligibility to apply for a grant.  Prior applicants that still qualify will be notified as well.  An application will automatically be sent in July of each year to newly ordained clergy and prior applicants that still qualify.  Applications for grants are due no later than November 15 of each year.
