reaching
out with renovations
Following
two-plus years of meetings and the acquisition of Wesley Hall, former
property of the Wesley Foundation’s campus ministry, construction began
for a major renovation of this space at
College Avenue United Methodist
Church in Muncie, Indiana. The renovation will expand the hall’s
functionality, providing a dedicated space for a fellowship area
complete with coffee bar; a larger multi-purpose area for worship,
recreational and educational outreach programs, receptions, dinners,
etc. A remodel and upgrade of the attached kitchen is also underway.
Other aspects of the renovation are to:
• increase and update existing restrooms to
meet ADA requirements;
• add central air conditioning to all
renovated areas;
• update technology, acoustics, lighting,
and flooring; and
• replace five main entry doors, one of
which will be an automatic
handicapped-accessible entrance.
A capital campaign drive resulted in pledges
making up over 90% of the needed capital for this venture. The IN
U.M. Loan & Savings Ministry, Inc. has been able to help with the remainder of
the funds needed to complete Phase I of the four-phase building program.
