On
February 14, 2010 the congregation of Greenwood Mount Auburn UMC
celebrated the completion of their O’Dell Family Life Center. It was
definitely a day where God’s presence was felt by all!
Bishop
Mike Coyner preached and consecrated the new facility, District
Superintendent, Rev. Bert Kite gave the pastoral prayer, Mount Auburn’s
senior pastor, Dr. J. Wesley Hertel, led the congregation in prayer, and
many others contributed to this gathering of praise and celebration of
God’s blessings. There were many God filled moments to be sure!
The
O’Dell Family Life Center is a beautiful addition to this church that
has been a part of the community for 180 years. Not only have they built
this large addition, but with the very first fruits of their
 capital
campaign, set aside $100,000 to build a church in Junja, Uganda. What a
testament to this congregation’s faith!
On
March 29, 2009, the first United Methodist church in Uganda was
dedicated as Trinity United Methodist Church.
